Tap at JBC. Spicy aroma, almost sausage like! Taste is very different. Good banana creaminess with light spice at the end. Vanilla ice cream. Actually very nice. Full bodied but easy drinking.

Tap at C&R. Beautiful looking weizen. Big clove, banana bread aromas that are very enticing. Light lemony notes on the palate. Creamy mouthfeel with a hint of tartness. The finish has lots of peppery hops with a touch of herbal. Great stuff from Kure. --- Beer merged from original tick of Kaigun-san no Bakushu Weizen on 22 Apr 2016 at 20:58 - Score: 7. Original review text: Great weizen. Hits all the notes with peppery hoppy finish! Great.

5% On tap at the Ibaraki Bakuon fest 2013. A cloudy yellow pour with a filmy white head. The aroma is fruity, full bodied with a spicy clove taste which is what I prefer. A surprisingly solid weizen. Quite good.

Draught at the Brewpub. Cloudy orange-brown, a bit muddy. Big estery nose, banana, clove, peach. Very sweet, tongs of clove and banana. Too sweet, though the flavors are right.

Draught at Ushi-Tora, Tokyo. Cloudy straw colour. Evident fruity estery banana aroma. Sweet and medium bodied with swampy banana and yeast. Truely phenolic and yeasty weizen, but otherwise it delivers exactly what I expect from a weizen.

Cloudy, golden color. Big bananas, cloves, but phenolic beyond belief. Very dry finish, but the beer loses so much for the out of control phenols, which one friend swears Japanese people love. Funny enough, I drank the same beer, in the same pub an hour before when a friend ordered it and it wasn’t nearly as bad.
