Tap at Laurelwood, PDX, 25/05/13. Clear chestnut brown with a thin beige head. Nose is malt forward, biscuit, toffee. Taste comprises dark malts, sugars, biscuit. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light bitter notes in the finish. Average brown stuff - like most amber brown stuff tends to be ! The classic ’W’ formation was attained, I was thus ’whelmed’!

Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and hops. Light-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, nuts and a bit of citrusy hops. The finish is sweet with a roasty malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft at the brewpub. Roasted malt aroma. Dark brownish color with a light tan head. Slightly smoky malt flavor; not too sweet. A bit of hop. A little dark sweetness and smoke in the finish. There is not quite enough bitter to balance. Good drink, though.
