Tap at Ichiya. Fairly low carb. Smooth and real ale like almost. Hints of ginger but not overpowering. Malty backbone balances the spice. Nice

I have had this beer three times now, the first was at the 2012 Kyoto Zest Beer Festa when it was unbelievably strong! The alcohol wasn’t so strong but the ginger flavor was overpowering. The other two times were at their Tingara brewpub, once the beer was really nicely balanced with the ginger giving it a zesty kick. I had it again today and it was midway between the other 2 batches. A bit stronger than I’d like but still pretty nice and perfectly drinkable. I guess they are still in the process of tweaking this beer. Kudos for imagination though!

Pale orange-amber no head. Fierce ginger nose, very nice, full-on ginger. Flavor is a bit thin, prickly ginger, a little caramel and malt, but mostly just ginger. Nice drinking. Hard to say it is very beerlike, but tasty. Long ginger burn.
