Did henry ford really have a girthsome fjord? Or is it flippant conjecture forming a combination of words that we find amusing? Sure we can justify it: Henry Ford was Belgo-American, Fjords are produced by glaciers (... Glacier hops...), . Either way, you can have this heavily hopped dark roasty Belgian Ale any colour you want as long as it's brown.

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks Tom L. Brown. Big nutty aroma with Nutella, caramel, toast, chocolate. Sweet flavor with caramel, nuts, yeast, a bit of fruitiness, and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied. Good.

Bottle from Brewcraft at new apt. Hazy cola brown with thin white head. Aroma isn't too strong - some nuttiness, some pine bitterness. Taste follows - some nutty malt, bitter resin bite, alcohol on the finish. Rich palate. Not bad at all but not as interesting maybe as I expected.

23/XII/13 - 330ml bottle @ home - BB: n/a (2013-1171) Thanks to Bo for bringing the bottle to Belgium!

Little cloudy brown beer, huge aery fizzy beige head, bit adhesive. Aroma: coffee, mocha, bit dirty, bread, sugary, burnt caramel, sourish, something rotten and unpleasant. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: mocha, coffee, bit sour, burnt toast, overripe banana. Aftertaste: bitter hops, sourish, lots of coffee, mocha, bit of caramel, overripe fruits, dry hoppy bitterness, some citrus, burnt malts. Nope, although it's not bad, I'm not a fan of this thing.

(Bottle) Very dark brown, essentially opaque, with thin tan head. Wonderful complex aroma: chocolate, malt, pine, stone fruit. Fairly full bodied with creaminess to carbonation. Taste is complex and full and doesn’t align with any established style. The basic taste profile is a raisin / stone fruity start that develops into a chocolatey rich malty middle and on to a well hopped bitter finish. But there’s rather more than that going on. The hops are present throughout providing a clean bite for balance. There are good chocolate notes also in the long finish. Raisin flavours are present fairly consistently. The alcohol is quite well hidden but does provide some bite in the mid palate. Overall it’s a bit confusing, but in an intriguing inspiring way - I always wanted another taste, and that’s really what counts. Clever brewing.

From a 330ml bottle on 27/1/2013. Pours a murky cola colour with a biggish head that disappears quite quickly. Had a modest caramel malt aroma with a hint of dark fruit. The flavour follows suit, with some caramel sweetness, some prune and date, and a bit of chocolate and brown sugar. Couldn’t detect any Belgian character to it at all. Finishes with medium to big slightly roasty bitterness. I found this to be ridiculously over-carbonated, which refused to settle down despite being left in the glass for ages. Even without the explosion of bubbles making it hard to down, it comes across as a bit pedestrian. Rather disappointing given the Moon Dog Love Tap I just downed previously was rather good. Perhaps one for a re-rate just in case it was a dud bottle.

Bottled. A murky brown beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of citrusy hops, malt, caramel, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, cocoa, alcohol, malt, and citrusy hops, leading to a dry, bitter, and alcoholic finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of maneliquor. Pours a hazy dark nutty brown with a frothy and lacing off-white head. Sweet roasty nose with a little aromatic hops. Rich body, carbonation is a little excessive, massive roasty coffee notes with some raisin touches, heavy hops - slightly citrusy with a roasty bitterness. A little funk lurking. Another interesting Moon Dog beer. 030612
