On tap. Pours a very dark brown with light foamy head. Aromas of nuts and dried roasted malts. Flavours of dried coffee, oily dark fruit, grass, and roasted malts. Nice enough but nothing special.

A little watery on the palate. Some roast and a little chocolate without being huge on anything. Finishes with light bitterness. Soft overall feel. Nothing memorable. Tap at DC Beer festival.

Tap at Elysian Fields, Seattle - 09/11/12. Very dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head that retains as a small pond and at the edges. Nose is roast malts, leather, liqourice, molasses. Tastes of roast malt, chocolate, molasses. Medium bodied, light spritzy carbonation, dry finish. Touch above average.

Location: Draft at Iron Monkey, 6/28/12

Aroma: The nose is pretty heavy on the dry roasted coffee malts, with little else present
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with medium sized beige head, and some lacing
Flavor: The taste is pretty much the same as the nose, pretty much all unsweetened coffee
Palate: This one is quite smooth, with a light-medium body, and a fairly dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a good (if maybe a little bit one-dimensional) porter. It felt a lot like a coffee stout to me, and the coffee was pretty much all I got out of this one. Still though, I enjoyed it. Elysian certainly makes some nice beers, and this fits that category.

Draught at St. Augustine, Vancouver
Black color; creamy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, some yeast. The mouthfeel is quite smooth, with strong flavor of heavily roasted malts, but also a delicate fruity vein to provide some balance and complexity; the bitterness is quite strong, suspected mostly from the roasted malt; the late final gets a bit ashy.
Pleasant.

Dark opaque black color, steady beige head, lots of lace. Coffeish, toasted aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Smooth palate. Sweetish milk chocolaty flavor, lingering roasted coffee in the aftertaste. Well-brewed porter.

Having a bottle while working on my final paper for grad school. Pours a rootbeer brown with gigantic frothy head that goes practically no where. Tastes of dark chocolate, malt, some tar, a little smoke, and a little bitter. Great carbonation and fun sunday afternoon beer to have cooped in front of computer screen.
