courtesy of BA trade. Pours dark brown with beige head. Aroma is malty, hints of roast and chocolate. Flavor, some chocolate nibs, light in body with touch of hop bitterness in finish. Malty with some chocolate, caramel and faint underlying smoke aspect. Light abv and amazingly delicious porter.

Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours deep dark amber with thin white head. The aroma has a mix of chocolate, burnt malts and some caramel. The mixture creates a very pleasing aromatic experience. The taste begins with caramel and a modest level of burnt malts and then moving toward a rich chocolate note by about midway. As the finish approaches the chocolate blends in seamlessly with the roastiness and burnt malts.

After being greeted by a huge rush of gas as the cap was lifted, I poured a huge head of tan that went from the top to the bottom of the glass. Slowly, it broke apart and made it’s way into a growing pool of clear brown brew at the bottom of the glass. The little bit of red that shows through at the extreme edges is the only hint that this isn’t totally opaque. Chalky malt, cocoa powder aroma. Slight smoke. The flavors come from the roast malt here. Heavy toast, some molasses, smoke, chocolate, coffee are all here. Medium body.

Pours nearly black, with a frothy, well-sustained tan head - dry, roasted malt aroma, with a lot of cocoa - fizzy, full carbonation in the mouth - quite dry, bitter and roasty, with a touch of berry-like fruity character breaking through the notes of espresso and tobacco leaves - develops some vanilla/cream sweetness late, but remains balanced until the finish, where it gets a little strong, with long lingering chocolate flavors - decent.

500ml bottle. Thick, brown-black color with a patchy, bubbly head. Rich and robust, with a chocolaty smooth finish. Minimal hopping as to style. Long lasting roast chocolate aftertaste. Right on.

Bomber from Bottleworks; Nose of chocolate, caramel, and light vanilla; almost blocks sunlight but appears very dark cherry red with a nice tan, glass lacing head; flavor is chocolate, pepperiness, lightly bitter, and a toffee note; finish light hop bitterness. Excellent plain jane, non barrel aged porter; wish I could get this all the time!

Sample at the Pike Street location. Pours black with a thin and creamy beige head that has decent retention. Sheet of lacing on the glass. Chocolate and coffee aroma with some malt. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Some smoke is present too. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste. Above average all around.

Aroma of dark roasted malt with hints of chocolate and smoke. Opaque black/brown color with a vigorous and substantial tan head. Near full bodied with coarsely creamy carbonation. The flavor is dark toasted malt and has fruit over chocolate roast malt. Seems to be floral hop and a bit of smoke. Almost crisp! The finish is lightly sweet with some floral hop to balance. All the while toasted malt lurks in the background. It’s not all that simple a drink. Very good.
