Bottle, from the Railroad street location. Pours opaque dark brown with foamy beige head, faint vanilla aroma, adequate carbonation, sweetish vanilla taste with light coffee flavor, thin body, medium finish. Weak and watery.

Tap at the Brewpub Dark brown bordering on black wispy off white head dissipates quickly. Big vanilla on the nose and flavor with a faint porter underneath. Decent dark beer.

Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a black color with a large creamy brown head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was faint but dryish and a bit malty. The flavor was bitter with a sourish malty note and just a hint of vanilla. Bitter and off underneath. Medium length finish. Medium body. Disappointing.

Location: Sampled at TapNY, 4/26/14
Aroma: The nose is caramel, chocolate, vanilla, and roasted malts, with some light earth/peat
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with a sheet of beige head and decent lace
Flavor: The taste is very sweet, lots of vanilla, chocolate, and caramel, without much bitterness
Palate: The body is on the creamy side, smooth and easy drinking, with some stickiness as well
Overall Impression: This is a solid, but very sweet example of the style. I liked the overall flavor combination, but it was just a little too sweet for me. It could have used a little more balance.

A deep dark porter with a thin moka head. A lightly smoked peated chocolate with light vanilla beans. In mouth, a light bodied porter with lingering burned malt, light acrid points. On tap at brewpub, July 30 2010.
