Bouteille 33cl, BB 12/2022, lot#031.

Bottle @ home. Nice dark amber color, full sized dense almost creamy white to off-white head. Aroma is malts, yeast, overripe red fruit notes but in a kind of sweet way. Taste malts, again light notes of red fruit that also provide a sweet hint, or maybe that's just the association I get with that flavor, yeast, maybe hints of caramel. Decent body and carbonation. Quite ok imo.

Bottle from LDW, Eke. Hazy amber colour, white foam. Dry, peppery, spices (coriander?). Rather bitter and not very well balanced.

Bottle at Restobières in Brussels. Moussy, off-white, irregular head consisting of relatively large bubbles but still retaining well, deep pure orange amber colour with even slighly pinkish hue, misty. Aroma of sweet caramel, hazelnuts, red apple, dough, banana, peach, dried apricot, white pepper, soap, strawberry. Fruity and estery onset, hints of peach, pineapple and some banana, white candi sugar sweetness lingering but not in a cloying way, light spicy phenols here and there, medium carbonation, smooth and rounded, somewhat ’fluffy’ caramelly malt middle with nutty edge, yeastiness especially in the end, paired with soft, herbal hop bitterishness; soapy character (I assume from coriander) lingers in the background as well. Very classic Wallonian ambrée, sweet and yeasty like so many Belgian ales, but correctly made and enjoyable.
