Keg at Craft Islington. Amber coloured, small off white head. Aroma is biscuity, bit sweet malty too, toffee apples maybe. Taste is quite sweet, maybe even sugary, little bit of spice, toffee. Some light fruit too, orange, berries maybe. Lightly spritzy. Quite nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Anneliese Amber on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:05 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 9 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a decent amount of pine with earthy grains supporting. Flavor has a combination of earthy grains and grass with a bit of pine underlying.

Craft Clerkenwell. Keg. Hazy amber with a small pale cream coloured head. Light crisp palate. Sweet tangy hops with generic tropical fruits and a light apple acetic vibe. Light and semi sweet malt base. Crisp minerally finish. Decent.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a clear amber color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt and citrusy hops. Light body with a caramel malt character spiked with some grapefruity hops. The finish is malty with a slightly hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

On tap at the brewery. I have numbers but few notes. This was a pretty solid amber ale, with cerealy, fruity malts dominating the palate. Caramely. Soft body.

On draft at brewery. Nice copper color with thin off white head. The aroma is tart grapefruit and a hint of sweet malt. Nice hop bite of what seems like grapefruit hop type flavor and bitterness. The malts take a back seat behind the tall hop flavor profile. Nice tasty beer for the hop head or aspiring hop head.

On draught at the brewery, 11/26/2005. Pours an amber-beige colored beer with some light cherry-red hues and a foamy, small white head, moderate retention, receding to a light cover and ring. The aroma has American hops right away, light orange and mostly floral notes, with a soft grassy/herbal undertone. Light toasted grains, plenty of medium-dry caramel and fresh yeast collect in the aroma. Almost a sprucey/woodsy sort of feel to it with the dry grains and floral hops. The flavor is hoppy up front as well, only lightly so, and just more herbal/grassy than floral. Round caramel and light nutty malts through the middle followed by a late bitterness and more floral hops, verging on a touch of citrus. The body is medium, with no thinning or wateriness and low carbonation. Texture is a touch lean, with the very dry malts and not as much sweetness to lend as creamy a texture. Strikingly similar, though to Bells 20th. Bret and Eric had never even heard of Bells 20th so it’s funny they produced a malty amber ale with fair hop flavor and aroma at almost the exact same ABV. Not quite as chewy and succulent as Bells, nor as sweetly malted, but this one has a more pronounced, crisper hop flavor and aroma.
