Can, pretty cold. Red with a large pale beige head. Aroma of toffee, prunes, citrus, hints of roasted malt. Malty but not as sweet as expected with the modest roast assisting in keeping the dried fruit and caramel in check. medium bodied. There is some tropical fruit (lychees), pepper and muted citrus as it turns towards a moderately bitter finish but the hoppy things are happy in a secondary role. Roast, breadcrust, resin. Perhaps a little strong for what it offers but the balance is nicely judged.

15th Dec 2017. Draft in the Stadium Brewery, Aliso Viejo. Red hue to the body, clear and clean, on top a lightly tanned covering. Toasted, roasted malts in both the nose and taste, some red fruits too. Decent.

This to me is a bench mark American Strong ale. Deep ruby red color. Massive nose of pine and cookie dough. Very full bodied, with immense chuwiness and rip roaring hops. Very full bodied. Everything is balanced in the right place. Big, but after a pint I wished there was more. Really really good.

Expensive as all HELL 22oz bomber pours with a clear dark amber colored body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a good dose of spicy woodiness, spicy oak, some malts and molasses and then grassy sort of herbal sort of woody (more wood) hoppiness. The taste delivers bitter to near resiny pine hops flowing quickly into spicy wood and then malt to molasses to crystal malt sweetened grassy herbal hops. It stays spicy with wood to midway where a modest level of black tea like earthy hops are noticed creating a tasty additional facet to the experience. Fun yet overpriced beer.

[2/3/16] Draught at The Good Hop in Oakland. Deep red color. Aroma of piney and fruity hops. Flavor has some sweet malt, and bitter resinous, piney and fruity hops with a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied. Decent, just a bit too heavy.

Bottle shared. Thanks Davido! Huge tropical hop nose with caramel. Super juicy on the palate and nose. More pineapple, pine and grapefruit...almost jam-like. Nice fruity and bitter finish. Liked it!

Dark red, mahogany and with a thin white foam. Clear. Aroma is intense, some strong malty and rowan berry character, nice hop kick there also. Taste is bitter and bold, dry and has some fruity notes, cranberries. Great imperial red. Has some rowan bitterness, does not feel 8,7% it actually is. Drinks nice and feels great. Me like it.
