Tap at Port Street. Nice. Light roastiness, lots of malt. Little chocolate, very smooth, touch of sweetness and little bit of hop bitterness. --- Beer merged from original tick of Winter Range - Brown Ale on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:05 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. 330ml bottle. Clearish brown colour with a nice tan head, good retention. Aroma: malty, caramel and chocolate, yeast, citrus. Taste: bittersweet, chocolate, caramel, bready, balanced by a surprising amount of hops, some citrussy notes. Medium bodied, smooth with a bit of a hoppy bitter finish to it. Hoppier than I expected but I liked it.

Clear deep amber colour, tall frothy beige head, good retention and heavy lacing. Aroma toasted malts, caramel, orange, brown bread. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, toffee, brown bread, light fruit. Dry bittersweet aftertaste, malty, piney, spicy notes. Light to medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation; well-balanced and rich brown ale.

At home. 30/05/16. Ordered from Beerhawk. Pours a treacle toffee brown, with a frothy light head. Light aroma, but can pick up the hops. Smooth but hoppy with a bitter kick to it. Light on the palate. Goes down well. Less substantial than I was expecting.

Bottle from Fresh Fields Market, Croydonia. The aroma is deep red - brown with a thick beige head. The aroma is fresh, bitter - sweet, cocoa, toasted pine, toffee and coffee. The taste is bitter, toasted brown bread, pine, varnish, coffee, nuts, bitter orange, kumquat and pepper with a drying finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Well - rounded and quaffable. Good brown ale.

Bottle thanks to Stuu666. Appearance - ruddy amber with nice lacing. Nose - yeast dominant. Light chocolate and nuts if you look for them. Taste - light chocolate and nuts but enveloped by yeast. Peach melba yoghurt at the back. Palate - close to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - not clean and sweet enough for this style. It’s awright though.

Bottle from Bradleys, Cork [170416]
Caramel brown, clear, frothy white head, some lacing
Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, slight topical fruits, dab of lemon, no malts which is odd for a brown ale
Taste - Lotos of citrus hops, grapefruit, touch of pine, light brown caramel malt, nice fruits, good flavour, malts surprising far back in the background
Palate - Medium carb and body, quite mellow sweet, soft, good mouthfeel. Finish is more bitter, bitter zest, soft caramel which comes out more in the finish
Overall - Well made. Not cheap here in Ireland. Good hop balance. Not malty enough to be a Brown Ale more a Brown IPA. Liked it.

Bottle from Minutemat from a swap. Thanks! Almost clear brown colour. Slightly nutty, caramel, but also fresh fruity hoppiness, resiny, zesty. Very nicely balanced and easy drinking.
