All beautiful things ripen in barrels. This is our well-known Imperial Russian Stout aged in Auchentoshan barrels. A single malt whiskey, which you can easily recognize in this beer. We are a huge fan of this Barrel Aged!

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Confit cherries, soft roast, whisky in the aroma. Malty yet dry, soft roast flavor with confit cherries, oak, hints of smoke, whisky. Has thinned considerably. Hint of charcoal. Fairly complex, but not perfect,

Dark fruit, smoke, peat, prune jam, scotch, dark chocolate. Smooth texture, rich flavour. Nice one! 4.1

Bottle. Black-ish pour. Aroma of strong whisky, cherry, sweet red fruit, booze, figs, oak, caramel and chocolate. Taste has heavy whisky, boozy red fruit, buttery caramel, chocolate, some smoke, figs, sweet cherry, vanilla and a long rich auchentoshan whisky. If you like idiotic barrel forward beers this is delicious.

Black with quick fading head. Aroma and flavour are dry like a wine bottle cork. The underlying sweetness of the base beer is blocked by too much barrel. 12 months was clearly too long to sit in the barrel.

Pours black, small white head. Smell is strong, boozy on the barrel. Taste is sharp, boozy barrel, chemical, way to intense. Should work better if backblended. Ends really dry and astringent. OK.
