Pours a clean deep-amber colour with a fizzy yellow-beige head which disappears quick enough, leaving some creamy-foamy bottom lace. Aromas of plums, raisins with some coffee notes and some hay. Actually, quite sweet overall with some caramel and butterscotch. Thankfully the taste is not as sweet. Still some mild caramel and dark fruits. Light alcohol and watery finish. Not the best, not very well-blended. Not one I would have again.

500ml bottle. Clear, reddish-brown colour with average, thick, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Slightly sweet-ish, malty aroma, cautious yeasty and fruity overtones with hints of red and dark berries. Taste is dark malty, minimally roasty, minimally yeasty, fruity, hints of red and dark berries, a dry touch of fruit parings, grapes, minimally vinous and alcoholic. Not much in it for 9.0% abv.

Rötlichbraunes Bier mit ordentlicher beiger Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, reife Früchte, alkoholisch. Geschmack malzig, säuerlich, reife Früchte, leicht alkoholisch, insgesamt aber zu säuerlich.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons, Coquelles, Citi Europe, February 2014 had this at Merton BF tidy up mtg with dad also in attendance, at Nick & Anna’s Wednesday 12th March 2014 Pours reddy/amber on colour. There is a slight sourness coming through, however its like a woody barrel aged sourness as oppossed to being an infection issue. Clearly a Belgian influenced beer and yet the abv surprises me, it drinks far easier than it should. Fruity with some sweet orange, light hoppiness in background. I don’t mind this. Beautiful color, dark amber to brown, with small beige head. Mild aroma of caramel with very light sourness. Correct mouthfeel, full and round, with too much carbonation; caramel flavor, moderate sweetness, a liquorice aftertaste, low bitterness, and light sourness.
Lightly infected.
Second and last Grimoire beer, I’m happy I didn’t buy the others.

Nice amber body and a modest bit of beige head, but the aroma is quite lacking - in fact it smells like almost nothing at all. For a nine percenter, though, this is probably a good thing. The flavour is sour grass and leather with a weak enough mouthfeel to make it feel balanced. Lots of orange and cherry notes. For such a strong beer it’s incredibly drinkable, but that doesn’t make it amazing, but just good.

De couleur cuivrée-orangée et voilée. Nez de levures fruitées (pommes, moyen d’agrumes et de mangues, notes de cerises et de canneberges), moyennement malté de caramel avec des notes de sucre bonbon ainsi que des notes métalliques, d’épices (poivre) et de houblon herbeux. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-fort et une texture très légèrement crémeuse et aux notes aqueuses. Goût fruité sucré aux petites notes sûres (pommes vertes, léger d’agrumes, notes de mangues, traces de cannerberges et de cerises) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un moyen goùt malté de grains de céréales, léger de caramel et de sucre blanc puis en finale l’on retrouve un léger goût épicé (poivre) avec des notes amères de houblon herbeux ainsi que des traces métalliques (provenant de l’alcool). Post-goût moyen aux petites notes sèches, légèrement amer de houblon herbeux avec un goût fruité (zest de citron et notes de pelures de pommes) et des traces d’alcool.

Bottle: Poured a clear light brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and no lacing. Taste is a weird mix between a Belgian ale base with some dry fruits and some sweet malt note which is probably potent own its own with some dry bitter US grown hops with no floral notes. The mix is not the greatest for sure. Medium filtrated body with some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not the worst from this sometime suspect brewery but definitely a failed experiment.
