Our brewing history begins with this beer. And the history of strong beer in Bavaria – it was the Paulaner monks who invented this bottom-fermenting double bock. We have been brewing the Salvator for over 375 years – always according to the original recipe, which has been continuously refined over the years. The head is the colour of caramel and the beer is chestnut brown, combined with a seductive flavour of chocolate to give a pleasing intensity on the palate. Along with this comes the finest Munich malt, rounded off by a light note of hops in the background. Often imitated but never duplicated: The father of all double bock beers, whose names always end in “-ator”!

Tap this is a quite nice doppelbach that pours clear I would say Hazel and color with a little copper mixed in with a small beige had good lacing. The aroma is pure doppelock very bakurum and malti but a grass a bit of metal perhaps but in a good way dark sugars. Flavor is light plus sweet light bitter we've got a medium body on this one and it drinks nice for its abv.

Pours dark red to light brown, translucent red if seen through light. Average sized slightly off-white head, recedes quite quickly leaving minimal lacing. A rather potent and decently complex aroma: dark/brown bread, slight roasted hints (halfway between coffe grains and 'dusty'), slight chocolate, dried/dark fruitiness; with a light warming feel underneath. Taste feels probably sweeter than the smell suggested. The maltiness feels much less roasted and much more caramelish, with a bit of cola-like feel underneath. Notes of brown sugar, slight chocolate, fruitiness. Quite sweet in both and aftertaste, but not overwhlemingly so. A quite vivid warming feel, with maybe the slightest alcohol perception. Medium body (quite lighter than expected for the abv), with light to medium carbonation, a quite easy per style mouthfeel, but still able to provide a bit of creaminess. Nice overall.
