(Previously labeled Raspberry Lambic). Raspberries have a sweet tartness to them already, so they make a perfect pairing with sour ales. Our Raspberry fruited ale has a fresh berry aroma with a touch of floral and wine-like notes, followed by a rich raspberry flavor. Reddish in hue with a pink foam appear upon pouring, with zesty amounts of carbonation. Finish is dry, with mouth-watering tanginess and raspberry flavor.

(Old description). In the spring of 2006, I brewed 300 gallons of top-fermented beer using wild yeast to create a Belgian-style Lambic. We conditioned the beer in oak casks and then initiated a secondary fermentation in the casks using whole fruit from Huber’s Orchard in Starlight, Indiana. You should experience a tart, almost sour taste balanced by the aromatic and richly flavorful addition of whole raspberries - perfect to share with friends, and a platter of good cheese and fresh fruit. - Caleb Staton, Head Brewer

Bottle split at Scopey’s 5K Extravaganza of Oompah Band meets doorbell - from an IP trade with Frank from PA, 15/02/14. Murky cherry red come amber with a moderate crimson covering. Nose is tarte raspberries, burnt straw, raspberry vineagar, light acid, dank wood. Taste comprises tarte raspberries, good ole acid burn, raspberry balsams, acrid smoke, tangy berry blitzkrieg. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, tangy tarte berry semi drying close. Solid stuff, acid throat scraper !

Bottle at 5K tasting, thanks to Colin. It pours cloudy deep red with a small off=-white head. The nose is sweet, wood, vanilla, toasty, coconut and some acidity. The taste is tart, raspberry, acidic, earth, faint jam, lemon, lime, pisco sour, deep burn and sherbet, with a dry, tart finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. A bit hot and acidic. I like the tart rapsberry action nonetheless.

750mL bottle, sent from pantanap (thanks a lot, Kan), pours a reddish orange amber with a medium beige head. Nose is pure raspberries, with some tartness, and moderate funkiness. Flavour brings out loads of raspberries, a little funk, and some tartness. Not really like a traditional lambic, more like an American sour, though more like a lambic than most. The more you drink, the more the complexity comes out. Wonderful stuff.

2011 bottling

A - blood red. Fizzy head that left pretty fast. Looks flat overall

S - Loads of ripe raspberries and a hint of sour cherries. A mild oak and a hint of vinegar

T - Holy sour! This is a huge tart acidic sour beer. Not as much vinegar as I was expecting. Raspberry purée for days and days.

M - Nice carbonation on the swish. Lingering tart acids and nice finish

O - This is a great beer but it’s intensely sour!

Bottle shared at a sour tasting at Noam’s office. Thanks StFun for this bottle! Bottled 2/5/10. Batch #77-08. Cloudy red with floaties - looks like red grapefruit juice. Aroma full of raspberry, barnyard and a bit of sweaty hints. Sour flavor with raspberry, wood and some barnyard. Medium-bodied. Fluffy mouthfeel.

Bottle @ Avery SourFest III. Pinkish red appearance with a pink head. Intensely sour, rich raspberry, vinegar aroma. Prickly carbonated, big raspberry, somewhat oaky, intensely sour flavor. Nice but overly sour like all the other Uplands.
