Fusing the attributes of a traditional German-style Hefeweizen and an American wheat beer, Mother Earth Brew Co. leaves this beer unfiltered, however the yeast profile is slightly muted when compared to its Bavarian counterparts. This rendition is balanced and easy to drink, but there is enough there to satisfy true-to-style wheat beer enthusiasts. Whirlpooled with dried orange peel.

Can from Hayduke. Pours hazy gold with a transient white head. Aroma is phenolic, but it’s not really clove to me. Med minus body. Flavor is phenolic, a bit of clove, struggling to get banana. Rather dry, not bitter, but the phenolics help with that lack.Big gulp reveals banana, and apparently some wheat. Guess it is not to be sipped.

355ml can from Beers of Europe. Cloudy orange with a fine white head. Aroma of banana, lemon, yeast, cloves. Taste is typical of the style, banana, cloves, wheaty, but it’s lighter and has more of a lemony citrus bite to it. Nice and refreshing on a hot summer day, but not as good as an actual German weizen.

Can from Boise Co-op. While I had high hopes for this based on their stellar IPAs, this is a letdown from the start. Pours out weak, tiny head that disappears in an instant. Aroma and taste are a bit too light for the style (almost there), body is nice and cloudy and feels right. Nice try, near miss.

Can from Vino Wines. Hazy orange body with a thin white head that quickly fades. Faint lacing. Aroma of banana, peanut and lime. Flavour of parsley and pithy orange. Thin to medium body with a watery texture. Fizzy carbonation. A simple, forgettable Wheat Ale.

Can, very hazy, murky even, dull pale yellow. Nice full lively white head. The german yeast aroma and flavors are there, but not over the top. Definately not an "american wheat" but medium classing banana/clove character. Nice soft wheaty trailer.

355ml can @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours hazy gold, fast receding head. Aroma is good weiss esters. Taste seems to focus more on cloves with bananas coming second place. Pepper emerging on the finish. Moderate to high carbonation. A little disjointed but not unpleasant.

On draft at Tap 25. It pours a very cloudy yellow color with a white head. THe aroma is strong with yeast. Lemon, clove and more peppery than most hefs. Some notes of wheat. Pretty dry and crisp on the palate, but a bit too thin for the style and not a lot of character. Too yeasty. Meh.

Trübes orange goldenes Bier mit einer geringen weißen schaumkrone. Geruch hefig bananig, Nelke. Geschmack süß bananig, hefig, leicht trocken im Abgang.

Pour is a murky yellow with a large white head. Aroma is wheat malt and some hefe creamy yeast esters. Flavor is a chewy wheat malt with some dry breadyness and not much of an aftertaste. No really banana or clove thing from the yeast. This is more of just a plain old wheat ale then a German hefe.
