Draft at CBC 2013 - Copenhagen. Pours hazy dark gold with a frothy, white head. Ripe citrus in the nose, some orange, grapefruit. Hugely sweet flavor, alcoholic, with some orange, bread, brown sugar. Full bodied with fine carbonation and oily texture. Warming finish with lots of sticky sugars, ripe orange, booze. Nice stuff for the ABV, but man is it full on.

Draft @ Kaapse festival. Aroma of vanilla, malt and bourbon. Taste is very heavy and boozy, with bourbon vanilla, raisin and caramelised malt. Warm boozy finish. Very nice.

Sampled draft as “De Molen Epitaph” @ “Kaapse Brouwers 1st Anniversary Beer Festival”. I wonder as to what happened to these Merciless guys & there massively overpriced beers. Murky amber brown with no head. Nose is big on sugar, candy, heavily oxidized, honey, more candy & strong alcohol. Taste is largely flat oxidized, sugar, caramel, big sweetness, cooked apple, more sugar, light floral bitterness & intensely big alcohol, burning really,… Flat, heavily sugar, oddly lightly watery. Good for heavily alcohol sugar, I can work with this but more than a few sips is all I needed.

On tap @ Haandfest 2013. This monster pours a deep blurry wood brown body with a small islandy and sidesticking just off-white bubbly head. The nose is intense and sweet. Lots of malty and caramel sweetness with only subtle traces of something ripe fruity. Nuts and definitely wood here! The alcohol is also shining pretty much. Yeah, it's a monster in the taste alright. Really sticky on the texture and it has only hints of any form of carbonation. Tons of bitter nuts here, it's not as hoppy as I had hoped for. The main part of this taste is in the thick malty sweetness. Did i mention the alcohol? Well, it has lots of it. Warming and somewhat calming. Actually not all that horrible, but not something you can drink to much for. A good gimmick for a festival beer. 25.05.2013
