Bottle as Monks Flemish Sour Ale. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are cherries, yeast, caramel, malt and hops. Lightly sour with notes of vinegar as well.

330 mL bottle. Pours dark ruby with a large, tan head. The aroma is cherries, taffy, oak, and caramel. The flavor is berry sweetness and a nice tartness. The palate is medium, astringent, and crisp. Very nice.

Dark with a thin head. Aroma is sour fruit, cherry, lightly spiced. Medium, smooth body. Cherry, light yeast, a touch of sour fruit, vinegar finish. It was OK, but not something I’ll go back to. The vinegar finish was unpleasant.

12 oz bottle @Cajun Sourfest-pours copper with a light tan head. Aroma is soft light/medium malt, some sour. Taste is soft sour medium fruit, soft light/medium malt.

Bottle. Pours hazy dark amber with a medium tan head that dissipates slowly with lacing. Aroma of yeast, wood, malt, and a bit of sour fruit. Flavor is mildly sour from start to finish, with some malts coming through in the middle, and a bit of cherry in the finish.

Bottle labeled Monk’s Cafe Flemish Sour Ale. Pours clear garnet color with off white head. Vinegar and malt aroma. Cherry flavor with some sweet malt and wood. Not sour at all, slight funkiness. A little watery. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Sampled on draft at The House of 1000 Beers - under the name Monk’s Cafe Flemish Sour +++ This beer poured a dark brown color with plum highlights and a trace beige head that faded instantly and left no lacing. The aroma was sherry, red mead and vague herbs. The flavor was cider vinegar, raspberry, sherry and vague herbs. The finish was long with cider, berry and sherry notes lingering. Medium body. Quite pleasant.
