Bottled. Ambery brown colour, with a big foamy white head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is berries, some fruitiness, mild wine gums as well as some slight caramel and toast. Flavour is caramel, some toffee, mild toasted tones, some berries as well as fruits with a nice floral bitterness to it.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Clear brown beer lasting beige head. Toffee aroma. Some decent malts. Not much hop. OK, if a little underdemanding.

The aromas of chocolate and caramel is pleasant, but on tasting this beer is thin and uninteresting when tasted. Disappointing.

(Bottle) Clear deep copper color with thin off-white head. Strange metallic (steel) aroma with some lemon and candy hints. Light body, rather fizzy carbonation. Foretaste is good with quite rich malt and some peppery spiciness. There’s also hints of tea and tobacco. The taste rather collapses and becomes thin through to a finish that mixes some pleasant peppery notes with that metallic tang. Didn’t really do it for me.

From a 330ml bottle on 11/8/2010. Has quite a powerful, unusual aroma - woody, fruity - almost like red wine. Black grapes and cherries are evident. Tastes of sweet malt, fruit and a bit of toffee, and finishes with a moderate hop bite. Not a typical amber, but quite nice - particularly the nose. Rating 3.4. Re-rate on 18/12/2014. Was perhaps a touch generous the last time. The nose was less distinctive this time but still reasonably solid.

Pours dark amber, almost ruby, with a good white head.Wow, this is a really weird aroma. There’s some caramel and faint nutty notes, but there’s also a massive tangy hit with notes of vegemite and cherries... funky. Also some honey and toffee. That tangy aroma brings to mind lambics...Flavours are mostly comprised of toffee and caramel but the cardboard and cooked vegetable note also comes through. Not overpowering but definitely there.Nice smooth body, carbonation a bit high.

Bottle 12C. Pours amber, small beige head. Nose of toffee, plums and grass. Tastes quite fruity along with the caramel sweetness. A little wood and chewiness to go with some finishing bitterness. Fresh and well balanced.
