Bottle: Pours hazy, dark gold-amber with a frothy, off-white head. Toffee, slightly leafy aroma. Taste is toffee malt with a nice, subdued, leafy bittering. Mild and light, but with a fairlyrobust, malty flavour. Pretty nice.

500ml Bottle conditioned with a best before date of 15 Sep 2013 (or 2012, canโ€™t be sure). Poured into a UK pint (carefully) @ home on 15 Nov 2012. No sediment left the bottle. Nice, mid-brown, amber body, clean and clear: on top a good foam blanket of off-white bubbles which stayed around as well as leaving lacing on the sides of the glass. The nose is malty, caramel notes lead the way with treacle/toffee coming a close second. The taste is also malts first and foremost although there is a pleasing dry semi-bitter finish. I also found hints of fruit and nuts in the flavours as the beer warmed a little in the glass. The beer is pleasant enough, but nothing to get excited about.

Bottle which was purchased from SH Jones, Bicester by Steph (neighbour) consumed at home Tuesday 11th September 2012 Well the description suggests โ€™The Strong Dark Aleโ€™ it is neither dark being mid/dark amber perhaps or strong, 5% is not what I would describe as strong. However it is ok, very safe and middle of the road, middling to low bitterness, middling maltiness, in fact everything is done in a non offensive safe MOR way. Fine. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0
