Halia is a farmhouse ale aged in wine barrels with whole peaches, resulting in bright, effervescent fruit notes in a soft, hazy body that finishes slightly tart and sweet with the pleasant character of ripe, juicy peaches. Literally meaning “remembrance of a loved one” in Hawaiian, Halia was brewed in memory of the dear friend of one of our brewers who loved peaches.

Bottle. A- Brett, funky, tart, mild peach. A- Gold color, hazy liquid, minimal head. T- Bretty, funky, sour, tart, acidic. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, tart finish. O- Lots of brett and funk. The peaches are hardly there and I wish there was a ton more of them. Goose Island just hasn’t impressed me with these overpriced sours. Again, it wasn’t bad but too many other good sours to stick with Goose Island’s lineup.

Hazy golden color. No head. Big sour nose with apricots and oak. Dry mouth. Lifetime oak and apricot finish. Bone dry. Excellent.
