Hoppy Birthday is known as “The world’s most celebrated beer.” A Pale Ale, it benefits from a heavy dose of dry-hopping and is truly a gift to the senses. This bold brew has an intense hop-bitterness, but the pine aroma is the star of the show.

Bottle shared during RBWG 2016 - picked up at AJ’s. Pours clear orange-gold with a creamy white head. Dry and pithy on the nose, with more citrus, pine needles, rind. Light sweet flavor with dry pale malts, bitter pine, orange rind, grass, some pithy grapefruit. Light bodied with average carbonation. Quite dry and pithy on the finish, pretty bitter, more citrus notes. Not bad. Just a bit too bitter, especially in the aftertaste.

Bottle shared at RBWG 2016. Huge thanks to Leighton for this one. Clear golden yellow coloured pour with a fading fine white head. Aroma is caramel, pine and some dank hop. Flavour is composed of semi sweet base grains, caramel, bitter lemon, dank, pine, candied orange. Palate is sticky hop, moderate carbonation. Assertive nice clean bitterness.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is piney, light perfume, earth, light floral. Pours hazy orange with a quickly collapsing bone-white head. Taste is highly bitter, very hoppy, alongside a light candy sweetness. Somewhat harsh carbonation, but when the flavors are this nice, it doesn’t really bother me like it would in a lesser IPA. Good brew, but how can it be a session IPA at this strength?

Bomber. Pours a clear light golden in color. Minimal white head diminishes quickly to a thin film with some spotty lacing. Aromas of sweet malt and floral, fruity hops. Taste is pretty nice; with tons of citrus, some pine, and some pith. Fairly dry and bitter... Just the way I like it.

Pours clear gold into a shaker. Bright white head with good retention recedes to hug rim. Caramel, tropical fruit and marshmallow aromas. Caramel and resin upfront turning to earthy bitter pith in the lasting finish.

Pours a hazy, yellow-gold, with mid-sized, quickly-dissipating head. Strong floral pine-spruce hop aroma. Flavor is quite bitter, with forward hops and a lot of pine-bite. Not really a fan of this or any session IPA--they always feel like I’m drinking a light beer. I want more body, more complexity.

500ml bottle. Poured a very nice golden yellow color with a fluffy off-white head. Aroma ws lots of nice floral notes, grapefruit, with citrus lemon notes. Flavor was nice pine resin, caramel - well balanced, with tasty citrus. Very delicious.

Interesting shaped bomber bottle from Redstone, Andover location. Best by date: 16 May 2016. At the pop of the cap I smelled pine. Farther inspection shows light citrus and a touch of floral hops. Slightly hazy orange in color with light sticky lace along the glass.
Flavor shows a mild malt backbone with strong pine hop presence. Very light grassy and onion hints. Mouthfeel is crisp and texture is dry with resin residue after the swallow. Body is on the lean side but it does help with the drinkability.
I wonder if the Green Flash buy out has helped overall or if the product has changed or suffered in anyway. Anyhow, what is in my glass is pretty nice.
