Vlaamsbruin provisie-bier (beer for storage) is a blend beer brewed according to the Oudenaardse tradition. This beer has a confined bitterness and a delicate sweet-sour balance due to its maturing of 12 to 18 months. It is exceptionally suitable for beer-food-pairing or storage, which will refine its taste further. This beer yields complex tastes of barley, a hint of caramel, cherries, raisins, wood and …

23/IV/18 - 37.5cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck @ home - BB: n/a, bottle: VIII/2017 (2018-474) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!

Clear deep amber to red brown beer, small to no head. Aroma: bretty character (more than the classical lacto-acid in Flemish Brown), some caramel, bit fruity, dried fruits, citrus peel. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very acidic, lots of citrus, grapefruit, bit metallic, more citrus peel. Aftertaste: more citrus and grapefruit, soft bitterness, some tannins, bit woody, very nice. More a geuze than a Vlaams Bruin though...

Brown with light haze and thin head. Aroma is fruity, dry and sour. Flavour is particularly dry. Sweet versus sour balance is very good.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Bottle looks good. Beer in the glass dark brown, small head. Woody-sourish aroma. Starts fine malty-sourish, woody, notes of lemon, some berries. Dried fruits. Finish milder, less sour. Nice one!

37.5cl bottle. Woody funky nose. The beer starts with not much carbonation, very nice round and sour, wood and red sour ale there. Intense round and deep, sourish woody, dry sour cherries, wood and sourish malts. Very nice round and balanced. Long fruity sourish aftertaste. Nice dry tart woody finish on the tongue, fascinating round and deep. Very great!

Tap @ Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Nice head with good duration. Color is reddish brown. Aroma and taste are sour malt, cheese, fruits, hops and has a nice light acidic finish.
