A classic London Porter, this rich dark ale has its’ roots in the early brewing history of England. The full bodied, medium hopped beer is a great partner for our Pub pies and meats.

Taster and later a proper pint at the source. Dark brown with faint garnet at the edges decent sized long lasting tightly bubbled off white head. Rich caramel and chocolate maltiness with bits of roasted coffee and faint dark dried fruit. Very well made porter.

28/6/2018. Growler and sample courtesy of jtclockwork, cheers! Country #183. Pours very dark brown with a good sized bubbly beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruits, hops, coffee, nut and molasses. Quite light sweetness, medium to heavy roasted nutty bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily and watery texture, soft carbonation. Aroma and look both good, bit less so other areas, not bad overall.

Sample from jtclockwork... (thanks!) so not as fresh as it could be, but nothing seems too off other than the low carbonation and generally smaller head. Pours black to dark brown with light brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate and roasted malty. Taste is chocolatey and slightly roasty. Solid enough for what this is. Probably giving this an extra point because of less than ideal conditions.

Swing-top growler brought back by AdamChandler and shared on 10/15/16.
Thin, light-tan head rapidly fizzles atop a clear, magenta-tinged mahogany body.
Smells like DMS and a WHOLE lot of it. Beans, peanuts, earth, soil, light milk. Just a hint of light roast is about the extent of beer character here.
More DMS in the mouth and a completely pathetic, washed out, thin texture. They’ve got very little that you could call malt here and I’d be hard pressed to believe this is 6.2% abv. They obviously can’t mash to save their lives and the beer is grainy, utterly thin and astringent with light metal, sourness and plentiful DMS. Barely passable as beer and really, really sad stuff.

375 ml growler provided by AdamChandler, thanks man! He hand carried this crap back from Bermuda, what a guy. Black color, no head. Aroma is sickly sweet chocolate, chocolate syrup, and hot garbage. Extremely sweet. Honestly, like unsweetened chocolate mixed with sugar. Flat mouthfeel and thin watery texture. Maybe the worst Porter I’ve had in a long time. Pretty awful.

Faint brown to black. Not too dark. 1 finger tight bubbles head. Unsweet chocolate, Licorice, francelico aroma. Not as creamy mouthfeel as I’d expect. Chocolate is week. Milk sugar finish. Chalky, dry and very light

Sampler at Frog and Onion. Overt coffee roast with moderate low chocolate. Opaque deep brown with dark tan head that leaves a collar. Taste is solid clean roast. Toasty malt throughout. The best of the sampler.

Aroma is ash with just a hint of coffee. The appearance is a dark burgundy with no head. Flavour is barley and coffee with a hint of sugar. Sub-standard palate, and a sub-standard porter.
