Our sparkling Belgian Style Farmhouse Ale is wine barrel-aged with an abundance of hand-zested orange peel. Spicy white pepper notes contrast the citrus tartness. The light, refreshing, creamy vanilla finish will excite those fond of Champagne. Originally brewed by Belgian farmers to attract the best farm hands, we were inspired to brew an exceptional ale as inviting as the original Belgian Farmhouse ales. Light and effervescent, we named it for our founder’s granddaughter Sofie.

355ml bottle @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours an unclear lightly misty gold, minimal froth atop. Aroma has doughy white wine and saison yeast leanings. Taste presents a gentle carbonation that allows that saison yeast sweetness to shine, low murmurrings of white wine adding subtle depth of flavour. Decent.

On Tap at PreFunk Boise. Cant believe I still havent checked in to this. Clear deep golden pour. Classic Belgian light golden malty aromas. Mellow farmhouse yeat flavors, and quite slick and smooth. Almost buttery. Expected a cleaner drier beer.

Bottle at home, 17/08/18. Lightly hazed golden with a decent off white cap. Nose is lemon rind, bittersweet citric peel, yeast flicker, on the turn melon, stale bread, grains. Taste comprises tarte citric fruit, light barnyard esters, mellow yeast, faint white peppery spice, lime leaf, grassy. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a tangy citric laden climax. Solid saison.

Bottle (765ml - what an odd size). Just hay gold with a white head that's soon a coat. Aroma light dough oranges, funky apricot, coriander, pepper. Light bodied, carbonation is moderate - a little lower than I really like with this sort of thing. Fruity with an end of summer feel - more mellow stone fruit than citrus. Hints of Viognier. Then spices and an underdone bitterness in a finish that still works because it's just about dry enough. I like that it's not trying to be anything else. Good.
