22 oz hefe type glass at the Goose Island pub by gate L10 in Chicago’s O’Hare airport. The pour is mostly clear golden with a smallish white head. Decent lace. The aroma is flat hop bitterness, along with sugar sweet malt. The taste is light fruit malt sweetness, a touch of woody hops, and a real dirtiness. Not sure how clean these tap lines are. The palate is medium bodied, lower carbonation, and finishes with the fruit sweetness, and a bit of an off yeast character. The fresh keg was better, cut the sweetness a little, though the dirty yeast / tap line remained.

On tap. Pours a near clear sappy orange with a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has notes of sweet grain and sweet gays with a light backing grassy hop note. Flavor begins sweet with cookies and is joined by some earthy grain and grassy hops.

Wellington’s, Chicago tap ($3): Pours a copperish color with a nice white head (I think the picture is just fine). Aroma is a whole bunch of citrusy hops and some sweet malts. This is a very drinkable beer and basically defines an American session without doing anything at all extraordinary. In short, it is a well balanced beer with a moderate hop presence and enough sweetness and spice to be palatable to virtually any kind of beer drinker.

Tap: Poured a clear bright golden color ale with a small foamy head with OK retention. Aroma consists of light citrus notes with some semi-sweet cereal taste. Taste is also a mix between some semi-sweet malt base with crisp grain taste and a light citrus hoppy finish. Body is about average with OK carbonation. I guess this one is OK but nothing extraordinary.

tap at a Giordano’s - I had this one awhile back with some excellent Chicago style pizza. It poured golden with a medium sized white head. The aroma was of light, bready malt with a hint of hops. This light bodied brew had some mild hops bitterness and sweet, light malts. It’s okay but rather bland and underwhelming.

On draught at Shoeless Joe’s in Chicago. The beer pours a clear golden color with a medium fluffy white head that burns away slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Bready malt and hops in the nose. Light body with flavors of grassy hops, sweet malt and a touch of citrus. The finish is mildly hoppy with a citrusy aftertaste. Above average session beer overall.
