2014 was a vintage year for our apples. And this little number has been maturing slowly….. it has a bonfire smokey aroma, a parched dry profile and a wonderfully sharp and chewy bite. Cloudy and lightly carbonated.

Bottle from Scrattings. The 2014 vintage is still doing the rounds! Pours a cloudy dark gold with light foamy bubbles on top. Aroma of apple cores, wood, smoke, light vanilla. Taste of acidic fruity apple juice, apple skins, wood, earthy, smokey and dry. Medium bodied, light carbonation. Good.

Many thanks to Beerhunter111 for sharing. Fresh fruity apples in the nose. The cider starts fruity refreshing. Deep with woody smokey parts. Easy to drink fruity and the tart apple skin fits ideal with the smoke. Very interesting with a fruity smokey aftertaste.

50cl bottle from a trade with minutemat, thanks! A almost clear yellow golden beer with a small white head. Aroma of mild sourish and rped apples, wood. Taste of sourish dry apples, sulfur, hints of smoked apples.

Danke an minutemat. Extrem trockener, holzig säuerlich-apfeliger Beginn. Grüner Apfel, Säurespitze, der Mund trocknet aus. Langer trockener Abgang. Interessant, unausgewogen. 10/7/9/8/11/9

13/2/2019. Bottle from Warwick Real Ale, Warwick. Pours almost clear pale gold with a very small bubbly white head. Aroma of slightly musty apples, with a little wood and charcoal smoke. Light to moderate sweetness, light tartness. Moderate body, slight oily and watery texture, soft carbonation. Dry, tart, earthy finish. Not a huge fan.

500ml bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow. Slightly hazy orange gold colour, fizzy white foam head that rapidly dissipates away and aroma of tart slightly mucky & smokey apple. Taste is tangy apple, alittle citric tartness up front, then peaty smoke & woody notes, bittersweet, with some leather and dry tannins. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry earthy tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.

500ml bottle from Chez Sophie. Pours golden yellow with a light mist. Aroma has wild farmhouse notes with a mild smoky element. Taste is old-style Hogans, a touch rough and acidic, introducing a delicate prickly, nettley, oaky tannin presence that shields some pleasant yet fleeting green apple and bittersharp apple fruit. It's an enticing, complex blend that rewards those that take a little time to get to know it.
