0,3l from tap at the restaurant. Amber cloudy color, small white head. smells bready, earthy, spices, grassy, tobacco. Pretty decent smell. Medium body soft carbonation. tastes bread, earthy, tobacco, toffee, grassy. finishes lightly bitter with notes of grass, bread and tobacco notes. Surprisingly good one, easy drinking beer, yet enough going on to make it interesting. Good one

While Sternbräu has closed, a restaurant carrying its name is selling one beer that is carrying the old brewery name. I found no indication of which brewery that makes it, and people say Kaltenhausen, but all other draft beers here were Stiegl. Color is brownish golden with some oranges notes, unclear, and thick cream-colored foam. Aroma is heavy on malt notes, with caramel, but also some grain and even some citrus and grass. The taste is surprisingly full, focusing on maltish sweetness. Texture is smooth, with fairly low CO2 and a strange mouth-coating effect in the after taste that detract from it and is accompanied by a slight acid and pricing effect that is barely noticeable.

Bottle, 0.33l. Aroma of cereals, herbs and bread. Pours cloudy amber color with thin creamy white head and soft visible carbonation. Taste starts grainy and a bit citrusy, following is sour grassy and herbal, mouthfeel is smooth and mild spicy, while finish is moderate bitter. Medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Tasty star of our Salzburg visit...

Draught @ Sternbräu, Salzburg. Aroma has grainy malt and some honey. Also hints of hay. Foamy palate. Flavour startsa with grainy malt but turns through cereal notes into honeyish sweetness. Finishes with some grassy hops.A tad too sweet, drinkability suffers. Looks and tastes like Zwickel, not a helles in my opinion.

Draught at Sternbräu, Salzburg.
Orange-golden, hazy body, with a big, creamy, lacing, off-white head.
Quite light aoma of bread, grains, flowers, some grass.
Tastes of bread, honey, flowers, grains, some hay, subtle herbs.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes moderate bitter, floral, a bit herbal, bready, with some honey.
Good. Nothing special, but quaffable and clean, with nice bready and floral notes. One of the better Zwickels I’ve had.
