Tap @ brewpub. Golden appearance with a white head. Upfront fruity esters in the nose with notes of banana, citrus fruits, and apricot. A little boozy, fruit forward, a little piney hoppy flavor. Lots of citrus fruits which is nice but the booze is a little out of control. The barrel aged version has a more mellow alcohol note.

Tap at Dexters. Hazy orange tan. Big, creamy, off-white head. Fruity taste and aroma, some citrus, maybe even guava melon. Sugary malt depth, maybe some candi sugar or Belgian yeast notes. Not overly astringent, smooth melon tones, tropical. A pretty good Belgian IPA, would have benefited from a little more lively carbonation. Guave, honey, toasted malt. Well done.

Several samples at the 2011 KC Strong Ale Festival. Pour is a clouded golden yellow with a smallish off white head. Aroma is big floral hop, clove yeast, and a nice tannin mineral element. Taste combines the elements of the nose, floral hops and clove yeast up front, some resin carries the finish to the dry tannic finish. Palate is medium t heavy bodied, with a decent amount of alcohol in the finish. This had an interesting intentional (I assume)roughness to it.

Pour is a peach color with a large white head. Aroma is banana with some sugar and yeast. Flavor is more banana with some spicy hops. Kinda a big alcohol kick toward the end and finishes with some candi sugar. Ok beer and decent for a sample but woulden’t need again as its very light and watery toward the end and the alcohol is there is a big way.

On tap. Lemon clear yellow. Scum of pond for a head. Mild sweeter artificial aroma. Big bitter blast that is suspiciously lacking of real hops. Comes across like a cheaper american tripple, heheh. Taste is more bitter than hoppy fer sure. Weird, different and unique. Medicine finish. Not impressed but certainly on style for a strong beldgy immatation.

Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s this beer poured a dark caramel-amber color with a large creamy yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was very strong sweet fruit cocktail. The flavor was very strong sweet fruit cocktail, sherbert and alcohol. The beer turned a bit dry towards the long finish that had lingering fruit cocktail and table sugar. Thick and full bodied. Boozy, but somehow it worked with this one. Marvelous!

Location: Sampled at the NY Brewfest on Governor's Island, 6/19/10

Aroma: The nose is has some hops to it, pine, spice, grass, and some citrus
Appearance: It pours a somewhat cloudy golden color with an off-white head
Flavor: The taste combines the spicy malts with a bit of hoppy bitterness
Palate: It has a medium body and a more then average carbonation to it
Overall Impression: Overall, I thought this beer was plenty solid, but not overly great. Just a solid and drinkable brew. I'd drink it again.

Sampled from the tap at the 2010 GTMW. Poured a near clear gold with a near white head that dissipated lasted throughout the beer. Aroma was full of pine hops with a hint of citrus but a bit one note. Flavor was more complex with pine to citrus with a bit of spice and grain coming out in the finish.

Draught at Blind Tiger, New York, NY. Cloudy amber, small head. Rich aroma of marzipan and orange. Sweet and full bodied wtih clean, elegant malt, warming alccohol, grapefruity hops and evident almondy yeast character. Distinct, somewhat resiny bitterness. An intense, tasty beer.
