Cantaloupe, cottage cheese, and crab apple nose, with an obvious sake character. Hazy amber, thick yellow head. Cantaloupe, lemon, and chestnut flavor. Very neat idea and skillfully brought to fruition. Unique and enjoyable. Mouthfeel is beery and perhaps a bit too fizzy. The flavors are more like sake, but it’s still recognizable as beer. Easy to drink, but it’s such a niche beer, that I’m not sure I would drink it regularly. In essence, I don’t think it could give rise to a new style of beer. Perfectly suited as a one-off or limited release.

A golden ale with a thick creamy lacing white head. Aroma is fruity, grainy, and bready, with the sake notes coming out well. In mouth, a sweet malt with caramel notes, oily mouthfeel, alcohol and fermented rice. Medium bodied.

In the 650 ml bottle. Light, fruity aroma, with bread, yeast. Slightly sake-like. Sweet, fruity flavor with sake traces, grape, funkiness (just a touch), grains. Rather unpleasant actually, like a cheap, sweet, sake one-cup. Interesting idea but it didn’t really work. --- Beer merged from original tick of Otter San on 29 Aug 2008 at 15:21 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 4 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 4. 22oz bottle on 06/25/08. Somewhat hazy light golden body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet fruity aroma, some apples and somewhat cidery, with some bread and yeastiness. More cidery fruitiness, slight apple hints, and a bit more yeastiness. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Pale color with a medium head. Aroma and taste both rice and fruit. Taste with a tad bit of bitterness. Sweet fruitiness has the character of gummy bears. Weird beer, but oddly enjoyable.
