STEENBRUGGE Wit-Blanche abbey beer is a wheat beer brewed with 40% unmalted wheat and 60% malt. It has a refreshing flavour and a fruity, lightly smoked yeast aroma combined with the subtle Bruges “gruut” blend of herbs and spices, with an emphasis on coriander and Curaçao.

330ml bottle from aPivo.ru. Pours hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is coriander, citrus. Heavy coriander taste with herbs (gruit, I assume) and citrus notes, and wheat.

Közepes, hosszú hab, homályos, sápadt borostyán szín. Jellegzetes búzasörös, kissé citrusos illat. Íze citrusos, búzás-gabonás, kissé pezsgős jellegű. Némi élesztős ízt is felfedezni. Sajnos nem egy könnyed sör, testes, és azonnal érezni hogy erősebb az átlag búzasöröknél, bár nem kimondottan alkoholos ízű. Utóíze gabonás, fűszeres és gyorsan elillan. Inkább téli ital mint nyári.

Troebel lichtgeel bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is licht zoetzuur met iets van vanille, verder vrij waterig. Valt erg tegen.

Pours a completely cloudy pale yellow, topped with a small to medium white head, frothy and no real retention. Aroma dominated by citruses, along come also some spices. Taste starts sweet(ish), soury citruses later on and some spices in the finish. Light and easily drinkable.

Bottle @ home. Cloudy yellow colour, white foam. Medium carbonation. Watery with hints of citrus. Also some coriander. Light tart notes but also sweet. Easy drinkable, not a lot of character.

Amarilla clara. Turbia sin sedimento. Espuma notable, 2-3 dedos muy blanca. Aroma especiado y cítrico. Seca y con cuerpo medio. Muy especiada, pimienta y clavo. Bastante carbónica también. Refrescante.

Witbier in the Steenbrugge abbey beer range, launched in 2008 after the Steendonk project with Moortgat was abandoned. Creamy, snow white head, cloudy yellow blonde colour; wheaty, coriander, lemon peel, cinnamon, bit creamy mouthfeel, dry spiciness, refreshing. Stereotypical Hoegaarden clone, though.
