Special - Wetherspoon Spring 2013 Beer Festival
This beer is a compelling combination of crops, with the palest barley malt, malted wheat and golden oats creating a pale beer with a complex flavour and heart-warming, hoppy ending.

(Cask at Kitty’s, 20140602) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was small, white and it lasted long. Aroma had toffee, grass, earth and malts. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were toffee, earth, malts, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste had toffee and bitterness. Too harsh brew.

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - golden orange with a decent head. Nose - a bit elusive but some citrus and definitely some cereal as it suggests. Taste - plenty more cereal but a good amount of lemon that clears the palate. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - imminently drinkable even if it doesn’t hit the high notes.

Cask @ Standing Order, Edinburgh [090413]
Light golden, frothy thin white head
Aroma of almost nothing, slight fruit
Taste of soft pale light sweet fruity malts, getting a hint of fruit tea, sweet cereals, hint of peach, light floral hops
Palate - thin body, little oily. Finish as main flavour, smooth, that slight hint of fruit tea again
Overall - Average stuff

Cask at Tanners Hall JDW, Darlington. Clear golden colour, white head leaving lots of lacing and slight malty & citrus aroma. Malt and grain taste with a citrus hoppy bitterness through to the finish. Light bodied, medium carbonation. Quite OK.

Sir John Oldcastle Spoons. Light haze on this gold beer, little white head. Light palate, semi dry, fine carbonation. Light fresh pale malt with very light orange citrus. Subtle floral note and a whisper of lemon. Light semi dry finish. Not bad.
