Cask at the brewpub
Dark brown color with creamy head. The aroma is too light. It has a light flavor of dark caramel; the body is thin, there is no chocolate; in the final as usual there is a light yeast astringency.
Too basic.

(Cask at The Fiddler, Den Haag, 21 Feb 2013) Dark reddish brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, dark rye bread and dark fruit. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, dark rye bread and a certain roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with some sweetness. Well balanced and quite nice.

Cask at the brewpub. Muddy brown color with a decent creamy beige head on top. Smell and taste malts, some roastyness and slightly burned. Coffee hints and bitterness as well. Decent brew.

Cask at the Fiddler Den Haag. Poured a cloudy dark mahogany with a thin head and lace that looked like it was glued to the side of the glass. Rather surprisingly there is some hoppy bitterness in the aroma which is what this beer is all about. For a porter, it's surprisingly bitter which was somewhat of a shock with the first mouthful or two, however, I quickly grew used to the flavour and began to appreciate it so much more. I'd order another, so I suppose that's a good recommendation! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
