Bavarian-style Weissbier from a bottle at Antwaerps Bierhuyske. Snow white, creamy, nicely lacing, stable head over a hazy golden beer with ochre-ish hue, a tad darker than I am used to from this style. Aroma of banana but no bubblegum, soap, old cloves, dough, cinnamon, spiced bread, pear, glue, some onsetting oxidation. Banana in the onset but not in an offensive way and paired with peach and pear notes, soft, bit minerally and even a tad metallic around the edges, bready wheatiness in the middle with ongoing fruity touches as well as spicy phenols, yeasty and doughy finish with a dash of hayish and floral hops, persisting phenols. Older sample - a bit too old for this style really, but still enjoyable; many larger Dutch breweries produce Weissbiere, but many of them are a simplification of the style, with over-the-top banana and less finesse and depth than this one; like Hooge Heeren, Bronckhorster’s interpretation of classic Bohemian lager, this is clearly made with respect and understanding of an old tradition, once again proving that they are very good at tackling traditional European beer styles.

Bottle @ Prima Beer tasting, Hobro. Pours a hazy dark yellow with a small offwhite head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, light sweet fruit, little spice. Flavor is ligh sweet, wheat, yeasty, fruit, apples, coriands, light alcohol. Medium body, soft carbonation, a bit of alcohol in the finish. Feels stronger than the 5% ABV listed. 200315

Warm golden colour, white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, hint of honey, banana, spices. Rather bitter flavour, yeast and wheat. Bitter finish, hops, sour wheat notes. Nice and drinkable wheat beer.

33cl Bottle, bought at the brewery. Hazy golden amber colour, white head. Aroma of banana, spicy yeast, clove, quite sweet and sticky. Flavour is sweet, wheat, ripe banana, hint of citrus, spice, yeast, clove, nutmeg, leafy and light herbal bitterness from, I think, the cascade hops. Light-bodied, flat, oily mouthfeel. OK beer.
