This Cairn o Mohr Cider is made from the fruits of the Carse of Gowrie, a land once famous for its apples, where home grown varieties such as ’Lass o Gowrie’ and the ’Bloody Ploughman’ can still be found. This is a sweeter and rounder job than the other one, with a more profound flavour from keeping the apples kicking around for longer and cutting down on the cookers. So you can settle down in your hammock, rocking gently in the Autumn sun, letting the leaves land on your nose, sipping away, sipping away on the old fermented apple juice and nobody needs to know.

750ml C&C from Hatton Crook Deli. It pours crystal clear pale yellow - gold with a fizzy dissipating white head. The aroma is sweet, crunchy apple, perfumed, dried apple, splash of lemonade, damp hay, must, honeydew melon and some tangfastics. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, sweet - sour, touch of tartness, tangy, fizzy candy, fresh crunchy green apple, sugary, splash of white wine, melon, white grape, apple skin in the background and light tannin with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate+, effervescent carbonation. Errs a bit too much on the sweet side, but I still like it. Plenty to it.

From tap @ SRAF. Golden with no bubbles. Apples and apple skins on the nose. Dry, tart apples on the palate give the impression of fizz. The finish is long and dry. Good stuff.

750ml bottle from Cairn o Mohr online. Sparkling, pale gold colour, short-lived white foam head and aroma of apple, cinnamon, funk. Taste is tangy apple, tart, bittersweet, with oak, hay and barnyard notes, plus some drying tannins. Light bodied, spritzy carbonation, dry tannic finish. Quite drinkable.
