All New Englanders have a special place in their hearts for the old, dilapidated covered bridge of their youth. Maybe you rumbled over one every day riding shotgun in the family’s rusted-out pickup truck, or maybe one stands out from some rustic vacation largely long-since forgotten. No matter the case, they remain a symbol of nostalgia and youthful exuberance, a figurative bridge to another time.
For the traditionalist, the sentimental at heart, we offer Robust Porter, our take on a style of beer that, like these bridges, has remained impervious to trends, stalwart in the face of change. One gulp and you’ll be teleported to a simpler time. To that, all we can say is, Cheers

Bottle: Literally black, smaller beige head with a little lace; solid dark-malty and leathery nose completed by a good dash of cacao and sweet fruits; drier bitter-sweet flavour, almost full bodied; slightly lingering fruity (berries) and leathery finish with a bitter (caused by roasted malt) aftertaste. The right stuff....

(bottle, 35.5cl) Black colour with a beige and short foamy head. Roasted malty aroma with notes of coffee and leather on a mildly fruity hoppy background. Moderately bitter flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Robust roasty malty taste with notes of leather and mocha, combined with a dry mouthfeel; bitter-sweet roast-malty finish with leather and a fruity hoppy tail. Pleasantly Stout-like Porter. 16.II.11

Pours a dark brown with a creamy tan head that leaves lace on the way down. Smells of chocolate and licorice. Tastes of chocolate, malty, roasty in the finish. Great roasty chocolaty flavor. Mouthfeel is creamy and silky smooth. moderate carbonation. Medium body. This is a fantastic porter, one of my favorites. At 5 % its easy to have a couple.

On draft @ Barley Pub in Dover,NH. Very dark brown, almost black body with a small, white head. Aroma is strong dark chocolate, malt, coffee and fruity hops. Very promising aroma, and the flavor deliver as expected as well. Dominating, rich chocolate flavor with moderate roasted malt, coffee and hops. Well-made, delicious and tasty, awesome on draft! I4/ 20/ 2011 had on draft again and realized that this is one of the better porters I have tasted. Had to adjust my rating.

0.355l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours a near black body with a small, bubbling beige head. Really strong chocolate nose with good hints of coffee and roasted malts. Lively carbonation and medium-bodied. Roasted malts and lots of it! Explosion of milk-chocolate, some coffee and other roasted goodies. Really good, and I'm impressed that this is only 6% abv.
