Originally conceived along the lines of a Belgian Dubbel, Hell Hath No Fury … Ale morphed during development into something entirely different. Brewed with Belgian abbey-style yeast, Hell Hath No Fury … Ale is more akin to a roasty stout, offering warm, roasted notes of coffee & dark chocolate with fruity and clove-like aromas.

12 oz bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Almost black color. Brown head with no long retention. Aroma’s: Roasted malt, sweet malt, brown sugar, some sweet fruit, hint of herbs. Flavor is medium sweet, roasted. Medium body. Finishes heavily roasted, coffee-ish, medium bitter. Nice crossbreed between Double & (Imp.) Stout.

Refrigerated bottle, 7.5% abv, poured into a trappist glass. Pours opaque black with very small beige head. A little lacing, medium body, medium/light carbonation. Taste is roasted malt (milk chocolate with a hint of coffee), molasses, a little fig, and a hint of bitterness in finish. Pretty good, the marriage of stout with a dubbel.

Bottle thanks to Solan/GodofThunder: Poured a deep dark black brown with a thin bubble light brown/tan head. Aroma is dark and roast malts. Taste is burnt roasted malts with some fruits and light ridged cloves that breaks it up.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a Trappist glass. Batch 10735. Pours black with a small bit of dark brown head. Aroma is mostly coffee with a lot of fruit. Plum, banana, and a little citrus. Cloves and chocolate. Taste is medium bitter and very light sweet. It tastes like a cup of coffee with a banana dunked in it. Sounds bad but it is absolutely awesome. Full bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long, coffee-bitter finish. Overall, awesome. I would gladly drink it every day if it wasn’t for the 15.49 per 6er price point.

Draft at Haze. Opaque brown blackish. Steady oily head. Full bodied. Chocolate raisin tones, with a hint of warming alcohol. Solid fruity Belgian yeast taste, but the body doesn’t really strike me as Belgian at all..more Porter like. Sweet, quite tasty, but not a great example of the style. Choco-Dubbel.
