33cl bottle at Le Ruote, Rivabella, Rimini, Italy. Pours fairly transparent, amber, with minimal foam. Aroma is malty and cereal. Body is fairly dense, with moderate carbonation. Taste is well balanced between sweet and moderate bitter. Finish has some remaining sweetness.

Gulbrun klar med høyt hvitt skum som forsvinner helt. Fruktig lukt med noe honning og sitrus. Søt med lett floralsk bitterhet.

F: thin, white, quick gone. C: gold, hazy. A: malty, bit orange, bit spicy, bready, herbal. T: malty, vaguely citrus, bit bread, bit spicy, bit floral, medium body and carbonation, nothing very special for the style and yes it can´t be compared with Belgian ones, 33cl bottle from Delhaize Chazal @ Schaerbeek in Brussels.

One of the Borgo beers which are now available in Delhaize supermarkets - doubtlessly the result of this brewery having been taken over by AB InBev. Like the other Borgo products, coming from the type of elegant and classy, olive oil- or wine-like, mediterranean bottles which make Italian craft beer often so easily recognizable. Medium thick, moussy, off-white head leaving some papery lacing around the edges but otherwise quickly dissolving, over a hazy, very pure and warm golden beer with visible sparkling. Aroma of wet old bread, stewed leek, old apple peel, hint of cat pee (3-MBT from exposure to light, I suppose), dried camomile, potato juice, spoiled vegetable soup, breakfast cereals, hay. Clean fruity onset, some yellow plum and unripe banana sweetishness but restrainedly so, minerally carbonation effects, supple, slick and light mouthfeel. Rounded, bit cereally grainy sweetishness in the middle, a tad soapy with a very subtle spicy note which must represent the spelt used, lightly drying finish, florally and hayish but lacking in strength to prevent the finish from ending rather watery. Simple, straightforward thirst quencher, lacking in hoppiness and dryness for a saison and in fact much closer to an English style golden ale. It is therefore quite ironic that Cortigiana is marketed as a golden ale and this one as a saison - since judging by the content of the bottles, it should definitely be the other way around...

330ml bottle. Clear, dark orangey, deep golden colour with small to average, fluffy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Sweeti-sh aroma of cooked vegetables, canned asparagus, canned apricot. Taste is sweet, fruity, notes of canned apricot, apricot gelée, spicy hints of cinnamon and nutmeg; super-soft palate, soft to flat carbonation.
