Introducing Numero Uno Summer Cerveza, our just-released summer seasonal that begs for warm temps and long nights. Originally released as Agave Cerveza in the summer of 2014 as part of our Brewhouse Rarities program, it’s the artisanal answer to the easy-drinking, south-of-the-border slammers the younger versions of ourselves knew and loved.
Flaked maize makes up one third of the malt bill and highlights the distinctive corn and cracker flavor traditionally found in Mexican lagers. Agave is added at the end of the boil and the lime peel post-fermentation to impart a distinct, zesty character and a crisp, clean finish. Your new Summer Cerveza clocks in at 4.9% ABV.

Bottle from Wine Rack at Yarnton Nurseries, Oxon, consumed at home cooking Lamb Shanks with tomato, chilli and honey and a Canellini bean mash Sunday 16th October. Just like the Brewdog Overlord this is absolutely crystal clear, it’s gold, amazing clarity with a sticky white head, the lime is on the nose big style, the chill is much more muted here after the Brewdog Overlord chilli beast, however I rather like this, I like the lime it works well here, really well. Keg at Open City Bar, DC, 4/25/16. Clear golden, thin fizzy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of pale malt, agave, crackery malt, citrus. The taste is pale bready malt, agave, mild lime. Medium bodied, high carbonation, refreshing.

Can from Whole Foods. It pours clear yellow - gold with a small white head. The aroma is sweet, lagery goodness, corn, white bread, generic fruity vibe, glue and lime. The taste is sweet, limey, agave, cracker, cornbread, grainy, tinned fruit and straw with a dry, sorta sweet finish. Light - medium body and moderate carbonation. Plenty of lime on the burp. Generic lager & lime vibe. Pretty below par for these guys.

Bottle from Bert’s Slightly hazy light golden color with a small bubbly white head. Lime overpowers the nose for me. Flavor follows but I can find some light bready malt a bit of salt them more lime that lingers in the finish. Pretty easy to drink if you are used to drinking Corona with a lime wedge although less skunky. Not bad.

12 ounce bottle. Honey gold color. Brief white head. Cereal malt nose with a hint of lime. Zesty light fruity malt flavor. A touch of agave and lime upfront. Bready malt as well. Finish is tart with more lime zest. A good hot weather brew.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines, Sheffield. Clear, pale gold. Film of lasting, white head. Nose has lime cordial. Bready malts. Damp grain. A bit papery. Taste is grainy sweet. Light body. Grainy sweet finish that dries out a bit at the end.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a small foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of light corn based lager with light and subtle agave notes. Taste is also a mix of mostly sweet malt notes with some notes of corn and light and very subtle agave notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Nothing really special.
