Introducing Numero Uno Summer Cerveza, our just-released summer seasonal that begs for warm temps and long nights. Originally released as Agave Cerveza in the summer of 2014 as part of our Brewhouse Rarities program, it’s the artisanal answer to the easy-drinking, south-of-the-border slammers the younger versions of ourselves knew and loved.
Flaked maize makes up one third of the malt bill and highlights the distinctive corn and cracker flavor traditionally found in Mexican lagers. Agave is added at the end of the boil and the lime peel post-fermentation to impart a distinct, zesty character and a crisp, clean finish. Your new Summer Cerveza clocks in at 4.9% ABV.

A pale lager with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet biscuit malt with grassy hops, light mineral notes, fruity esters, OK. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with light mineral notes, light grassy hops, light fruity esters, so-so.

Can from Wine Warehouse. Pours golden with a large white head. Aroma of lime, hay, grass. Taste is the same... rather pleasant I’m surprised to say.

Bottle: Clear, light gold with a thin white head. Grain malt, agave scent. Taste is agave, lime, grain malt, corn.... Light, and not overly sweet.. Quite enjoyable...I’d gladly repeat this one.

12oz bottle. I remember there was a slight Agave beer trend in the late 90s, interesting to see it come back a little. Filtered yellow-tan body. Thin, glass rimming, white head. The lime peep imparts more flavor than the agave. Medium bodied, very easy drinking, fresher and better than most Mexican beers for sure. Doesn’t have the noble hop crispness that I associate with Mexican Lager. OK.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, best before 8/4/2016. Pours slightly hazy golden straw color with a 1 finger dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, lime, cracker, corn, agave, and light herbal/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale malt, lime/agave, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, lime, cracker, corn, agave, and light herbal/grassy earthiness. Minimal earthy bitterness and slight lime tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, lime, cracker, corn, agave, and light herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice robustness and balance of pale malt, lime/agave, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great balanced finish with zero cloying flavors. Moderate dryness. Very clean on lager flavors with zero yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and light body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly grainy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is a very good Mexican styled adjunct lager. All around good robustness and balance of pale malt, lime/agave, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Draught @ Albion. Pale yellow with small foamy white head that disappeared fast, faint citrus aroma, sweet Meyer lemon taste, medium carbonation, thin body, abrupt finis. Quite watery.

Aroma is very slightly like wet paper. Appearance was good at first, then just settled down to average. Flavor’s like a meh beer on the sweet side. Forgettable.
