Introducing Numero Uno Summer Cerveza, our just-released summer seasonal that begs for warm temps and long nights. Originally released as Agave Cerveza in the summer of 2014 as part of our Brewhouse Rarities program, it’s the artisanal answer to the easy-drinking, south-of-the-border slammers the younger versions of ourselves knew and loved.
Flaked maize makes up one third of the malt bill and highlights the distinctive corn and cracker flavor traditionally found in Mexican lagers. Agave is added at the end of the boil and the lime peel post-fermentation to impart a distinct, zesty character and a crisp, clean finish. Your new Summer Cerveza clocks in at 4.9% ABV.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright yellow color with a huge foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left minimal lacing. The aroma was dryish and citric with a bit of sour mash and grassy hops. The flavor was dryish, tart and bitter with a grassy and floral hop note. Medium length finish. Light to medium body. Not good.

Bottle. Golden beer with a bubbly body and a light head. The aroma is fruity with some yeastiness, and the flavour is dry and yeasty with a little sweetness. Overall a slightly less than average golden beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Lightly hazy gold beer, decent pale cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly crisp. Smooth pale malts, thin malt cream. Light floral lime with a whisper of something vegetal. Light finish. Inoffensive but there isn’t that much going on here.

Rake. Keg. Light haze on this paleish gold beer. Tiny white head. Palate is airy - light and crispy. Light dry creamy malt base. Mellow piney lime on the back end. Light dry crisp finish. Easy drinking fresh air beer.

Bottle, gift from Andrew. Hazy golden body with a thin white head. Low carbonation. Aroma of earth, flat lemonade and dishwater. Flavour of lime juice, lemonade, soap and grass. A bit weird. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. If I has to sum this beer up in a word, it would be ’flat’.

New Beer Distributors, NYC bottle: pours gold with minimal head. Aroma is agave syrup and citrus. Taste is sweet with some lime. A bit too sweet for me. Easy to down rapidly.

Bottle thank to Ashton McCobb. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of lime, light green vegetable notes. Taste is lager and lime! Clean, dry finish. Ok.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - golden and I don’t know if it’s psychological but I think I’m getting a green tinge. Nose - huge freshly squeezed lime not . Probably just imagining that I’m getting aloe vera. Decent pale malt backdrop. Taste - tonnes of lime and a corn note in the background. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - it doesn’t get great ratings but I’d happily drink a case.

A few 12oz bottles at a party last night. This drinks pretty well. Light lime zest notes, sweet light malts. Alright. Certainly a heck of a lot better option over something like a crummy Bud Light Lime.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is yeast, light citrus. The flavour is light bitter with a yeast, dry mineral, acid citrus palate. Light bodied with average carbonation.
