Piece of Cake is our birthday beer, brewed once a year. The name says it all, an oily, black, dense beer with a high degree of alcohol in which in addition to the 9 types of malt and oats we added vanilla and tonka (google it for more info).

Draft at the Ironic Taphouse in Bucharest. Birthday cake aroma and lots of tonka. Vanilla. Sweeeet in a big way and somewhat cloying. Lingering cinnamon and vanilla syrup. An accumulation of additives. Drinkable.

Bottle shared at Zozo’s. Pours dark brown, almost black with a beige head. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, booze, tonka and molasses. Taste is sweet booze and caramel, some molasses, vanilla and spicy tonka. Closes with a sweet, warming finish, a medium body and soft carbonation.

[ As Wicked Barrel Piece of Cake ].
ABV: 11.5%. Clear dark red brown colour with a small average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, tonka beans, chocolate - vanilla, roasted, dark malt. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, chocolate, chocolate - vanilla, tonka beans, sweet malt, dark malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming. [20190927]

Sampled at Borefts Beer Festival 2019, day 1. Opaque dark brown to black color, average sized light brown colored head. Smell and taste both have heavy tonka bean influence, hardly anything you can taste, malts and some roastiness yes but the tonka dominates. Too much for me.

Tap. Black color with beige head. Aroma is tonka beans, chocolate, very aromatic. Taste is tonka beans, chocolate, mild grains, a touch coffee roast. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Very good!
