Bottle at the sky high Canary wharf tasting. Many thanks to Kenny for this one. Hazel nut brown coloured pour with a sticky mid tan head. Aroma is nutty, woody, little pine, little coffee bean. Flavour is composed of full on smooth coffee, bitter roasted, choc, nutty. Palate is sticky, medium full bodied, highish carbonation. Assertive bitter roast, and piney hop bitterness. Good stuff.

Nose is cocoa powder, earthy hop, charr, spice, toffee, roast malt, dark berry fruit. Taste comprises liquorice, spice, coffee grinds, earthy red berry, light black pepper, roasty tones. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with earthy hop bitterness. Xolid XDA.

Bottle shared in London. Pours rich brown with a big, fluffy beige head. The nose holds cocoa, roast, burnt herbs, orange rind. Medium sweet flavor with strong roast, baking cocoa, scorched earth, bread, more citrus rind. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Nice, rich baking cocoa finish, lingering roast, earth, espresso, charred pine, gooey citrus, rind. Very good.

Bottle from the brewery. Black with burgundy highlights under a huge pillowy khaki head that lingers and leaves great lace all the way down. Nose has tons of espresso, chocolate, molasses, pine and resin with floral notes and hints of vanilla. Light sweet support for a prominent coffee and chocolate bitterness and herbal notes in the finish. Medium+ creamy body with average carbonation and a lingering dry bitter finish. Great example of my favourite style.

341ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with huge, creamy, fully lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Roasty dark malty, chocolately aroma, notes of coffee, piney, resinous, citrusy and leafy hoppy overtones. Taste is dry, bitter hoppy, minimally papery, chalky and medicinal bitterness, a touch of pine and resin, roasty dark malty basis, slightly watery passages. Sadly a loss of fruitiness in taste.

Many thanks to cfrancis for this bottle!! Dark in the glass with a nice big beige head. The nose is very hoppy-floral intense, hints of roasted malt together with a nice sweetish smooth floralness. Great! The beer starts intense, very deep and viscous. Roasted malt, floral hops, nice bitterness. Quite dry, not really sweetish, but intense! The aftertaste is nice and roasty, viscous, floral-fresh and nice bitter!
A very great brew! Absolutely great!

Bouteille 341ml.

Keg at APEX in Portland, OR on 5 June 2013. Beautiful, almost black colour with a persistent tan head. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate. Hop flavours on the front balanced by burnt malt and brown sugar offset.
