To create this one-off special, we took our session-strength stout, brewed with cacao nibs and powder, and then aged it for 6 months in an oak cask, along with some red Sichuan chillies. The underlying bitter chocolate taste from the original beer and the heat from the chillies are offset by a slight acidity that has developed in the cask, producing a unique multi-layered flavour profile that doesn’t sacrifice drinkability.

ABV: 5.1%. Clear dark brown colour with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, dark malt, sweet malt, chili fruit, light chocolate - cocoa. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet with a long duration, sweet malt, oak - wood - earthy, light chocolate - cocoa, light chili notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20190926]

Sampled at Borefts Pre-Tasting 2019. Gusher. Dark brown to black color small beige head. Aroma is malts, brown malts, coffee. Taste malts, some coffee again, don't think I really get chillies fortunately. Meh, don't like it.

Bottle, gusher. Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma is light chili, chocolate. Taste is chocolate, light chili, some dusty malts, just a tiny bit of chili in the back. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Alright.

Bottle at the pre-Borefts tasting, Zaandam. Poured a clear dark brown colour with light thin broken tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, caramel, red berry fruits. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, with a roasty, light smoky, cacao, chilli, fruity hop bitter palate.

Sampled at pre-Borefts tasting. Bit hazy very dark brown, tan head. Roasted malts, blackberries, coca bibs, earthy notes, soft red berries, dry oak. Light sweet and sour, medium bitter. Over light bodied, dry finish.
