0,2l bottle at home courtesy of my Secret Santa Lowenbrau, big thanks. BB 2017. Nice packaging.. black color, almost no head (dark coffee-colored colored anyway). smells of licorice, some wood, light dried fruits, some ash, charcoal, spices, coffee, earthy, light bitter chocolate. very lovely smell. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of licorice, some wood, coffee, bitter chocolate, spices, light alcohol, bit earthy. finishes a bit light with some roast and notes of licorice and coffee. very good stuff, just on the finish it looses a bit, I guess because of the low ABV (compared to other imp stouts). In general this would benefit from a bit more body, the aroma was very lovely though. Overall quite nice beer.

--- Beer merged from original tick of Original Medical Stout on 17 May 2018 at 16:39 - Score: 8

Bottle sample at Ariel’s farewell tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Lior D. 8.5%. Black with a tan head. Aroma of roast, coffee, ash, bitter chocolate, cocoa. Bittersweet flavor, roasty, with coffee, chocolate, cocoa, some ash, and a bitter finish. Full-bodied. Really good stuff.

Draft at Le Sec in Barcelona. Pitch black, not much head but the halo ring Is brown. It’s a black patent malt heavy Impy and low hopped. So, it has advantages and disadvantages. I’m happy with the malt bitterness being strong but not too strong. Black malt syrup sweetness but again not too much, actually can be sweeter to offset the malt bitterness. A lighter body with reduced carbonation for the style. It’s a good try for the style, nothing off putting for me, just not something that really stands out. I wish I could have bought the bottle, which is awesome.

A deep dark stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, bitter chocolate with coffee grind, herbaceous hops, resinous and piney, light cheesey notes, interesting. In mouth, a sweet fruity chocolate malt with coffee grind, musty character, resinous floral hops, burned toasts, alcohol warmth, very nice. On tap at St Bock.

Buena y original envase.
