Sanguis Burgundiae Plus Ultra is our regular Sanguis Burgundiae’s big brother. It’s a multi berry Melomel fashioned to the American style. Really fruity and in your face. Most Blacksmith’s Meadery fans know that we’re upping the fruit and honey volumes significantly each new batch. As far as the Sanguis series is concerned we may have reached the endpoint of that. For a total batchvolume of 120 liters we’ve added 60 kgs of fruit and 60 kgs of honey. As a result Sanguis Burgundiae Plus Ultra is (quite a lot) sweeter then what you may have come to expect from our meads, but the sweetness is in perfect counterpoint to the acidity and the tannins of the fruit

Pours clear redpink, smell is full, fruity, easrthy, bit sharp. Taste is full, intense, fruity, sweet, intense. Thick, yet a bit clinical, in a way.

Clear dark pink-red liquid. Very nice red fruit nose, several kinds; waffles syrup. Red berries flavour, sweet but nowhere cloying. Delicate flavour, and of course, blossom honey. Just enough viscosity & slickness. finish is more honey than fruit. And again, something subtely meaty. Nice, not so cloying as comparable Polish meads.
