Zwart bier met heel veel schuim wat lang blijft staan. Smaak is licht bitter en licht zoetzuur met iets van chocolade, koffie en karamel. Echt een goed bier, mijn complimenten.

Draught at BBF. Very thick and dense, creamy, nitro-tap like, lacing, yellowish beige head over a black beer with burgundy edges. Aroma of charcoal, roasted coffee beans and dito chicory, bitter chocolate, cold coffee grounds, iron, fig, dried porcini, dried tea leaves. Dry and umami onset (dried seaweed), very subtle salty touch but low in sweetness, rounded and very creamy, soft and bit thinnish body, coffee grounds bitterness, some iron but not overly metallic, peppery hop bitter touch in the end while the roasted bitterness continues. Dubbed and English style stout by the brewer but this seems closer to a classic Irish dry stout in most respects. Whatever it is though, this is convincingly Anglo-Saxon in style for a Belgian stout, have a point for that.

Black colored, frothy tan head, nice lasting and lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, some yeast and citrus hops, bit resin. Taste is medium to low sweet chocolate, some brown sugar, lots of coffee and some roasted malt. Quite bitter coffee dry finish and aftertaste. Medium to light bodied and average carbonation. Hops were more pronounced in the aroma than the flavor which is dominated by ground coffee. (bottle, Delirium Caffe, Brussels)

75cl bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, Aug 15, courtesy of Mademoiselle Haddock. Pours black but gushy. Herbal plummy aroma. Quite a complex taste considering it’s just 4.3%. Grains, coffee with a big, dry tobacco finish. Not too much citra but still quite an interesting one.
