Thanks to tpd975 for opening this one. Pours dark brown, light tan head. Aroma of ginger and cinnamon spices, plenty of roasted goodness. Flavors, hints of coffee, roasted malts blend nicely with the ginger and cinnamon profile and a touch of chocolate in the finish. I think these spices complement the stout perfectly not overpowering the roasted aspect.

Pours viscously to black beer with dark brown-beige, medium & collapsing head. Lightly spicy, lightly bready nose, not unlike a German Doppelbock; walnuts, ink, dark & sweet chocolate. Very neutral main taste, ending on dry-spicy and woody finish. Taste is much drier than a Doppelbock would be. Surprisingly little trace of molasses, and the cinnamon is not very present neither - aka good balance. Aftertaste reverts to chocolate. Well-bodied, slick, but giving a thinner impression. Some alcohol. Nice, not overloaded (with spice) holiday ale. Big thanks to Mike K!

Last of the keg at the Brickskeller, DC. Big head, thick, settled out in a nitro-esque fashion. Big spicy taste, quite intense. Lots of cinnamon and ginger. Very smooth mouthfeel. Ginger aftertaste is a little much for me, but I was happy to try this one nonetheless.

A deep dark stout with a thin moka head. Very pleasant aroma of ginger and sweet chocolate. In mouth, crisp dry chocolate with light ginger, a bit of harsh tannins, but overall interesting little number. Rich and intense. On tap at RFD, Jan. 6 2009.
