2012 vintage, 4 oz draft pour at the Seattle IBF. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a thin patchy head. Sweet dark fruit, plum and spice aroma. Flavor has some spicy vanilla, plum, cinnamon, and maybe a little rye. Dry finish. What an incredible barleywine. Big beer. 4 oz was plenty to get the idea here. Fun, tasty beer.

On tap at belmont station. Pours a clear dark brown color with a small white head. A big sweet fruity nose. Caramel, toffee, berries, rich burnt caramel. Pine fruity hops. Solid. Very good.

10th October 2008. GABF. 2007 vinatge. Dry palate - not in a good way as it’s a saccharine sort of dryness. Sweet malt up to the mid when bitterish hop finish. Would have been better without that icky dryness.

Red-brown beer under a yellow head. Wood, US hops, but restrained, cashews, orange- or mandarinepeel. Wry, sweet-bitter in an excellent balance. Slick, viscuous, chewy, wry-woody in the mouth. Excellent beer sustaining the fame of its brewers.

On Tap. Slightly hazy deep orange amber with a modest sandy colored head. Aroma of sweet caramel and brown sugar. Flavor is simlar woth almost over the top carmelized sweetness. Very little hops, possibly un balanced in that sense but delishesm Would not have guessed the 12%ABV. Yum

2007, at the brewpub in Stevenson. Bright amber colour. Chewy aroma - a little crystal, earth, balanced woody/grapefruity hop. Flavour lets down a bit....quite bitter to the point of imbalance. Some chewy crystalness, butnot with the same degree of nuance as other WM brews. Alcohol is surprisingly not apparent but I could have used some of that to cut through the cloying finish. This actually should be much better by the time Hard Liver ’08 rolls around.
@ Hard Liver ’06Beautiful bright orangey-amber colour. Soapy, perfumey hop with shallow brown sugar malt. Sort of light body, with hints of brown sugar, caramel malts and a shade of hoppy dryness. Not horrible, but certainly nothing special. 6-3-7-3-13 = 3.2
