Bottled (backlog). More or less black colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is liquorice, caramel, some mild non-sweet syrup as well as some toasted notes. Flavour is mild toasted malts, some wheat, mild liquorice, caramel and some non-sweet syrupy and resiny notes.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Fest in KEGS. Cask. Almost opaque dark brown - black beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and semi dry. Mild crispness from decent fine carbonation. Smooth and very mellow dark malts. Whisper of dark chocolate. Nice touches of sweet candy fruits, parma violets and sherbet that blend with the dark malts supremely well. Light finish. Great cask beer!

Ok.. 10/8/8/7/7/7

Cask Fluffy greige head, near black, but with ruby highlights. Lots of UK hops, dry, more than roasted notes. Grapey, lively flavours with especially retronasal roasted, and a bit of liquorice. More fresh grapey hops with every sip. In the aftertaste, I get stouty sourness. Light with some wheatlike slickness; not empty. Very close (as intented) to the original Entire Butt; as far as one can access that.

Cask conditioned at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. Listed as a cross between a mild and a porter, which indeed it is - an interesting one, too. Coffee and chocolate aroma. Quite sweet and malty flavour. Not bad at all.
